Researcher Profile

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto. I teach in the area of Development Politics. My research specialty is indigenous politics in the Andean region of South America.

Current Research:

I am currently working on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)-funded project on indigenous rights and representation in Canada and Latin America. My research sites are the Yukon and Nunavut in Canada and Ecuador and Bolivia in Latin America. I have informal research networks with numerous academics, research units, and indigenous movement organizations in Ecuador and Bolivia through my past research endeavors. I am currently in the process of establishing collaborative research networks in Northern Canada.

I am also working on a co-edited volume on protest and democracy that covers theories, concepts, approaches, thematic issues, and case studies from both the Global North and South. The volume looks at the way in which protest is realigning politics around the globe.
